Om navnene i bøgerne:
“I collect unusual names from all sorts of different places. ‘Dumbledore' is an Old English word meaning bumblebee, and ‘Hedwig' as a medieval saint. I've even used street names for surnames. Some words I made up, like ‘Malfoy' and ‘Quidditch'.”
Om Harry Potter:
"I can do to him whatever I like. I'm allowed to torture him as much as I want. He's mine."
Om hvorvidt Harry Potter har bumser:
“I see Harry as someone who has great skin. That's the one thing he's got going for him, thank God. I mean, spots on top of everything else would be too horrible for him.”
Om Quidditch:
“ Sport is a very important subject at school, that's why I gave Quidditch such an important place at Hogwarts. I was very bad in sports, so I gave Harry a talent I would really loved to have. Who wouldn't want to fly?”
Om hvorvidt Ron og Hermione er mere end bare venner:
Interviewer: Is it just me, or was something going on between Ron and Hermione during the last half of Goblet of Fire?
Rowling: “ Yes, something's “ going on,” but Ron doesn't realize it yet. Typical boy.”
Om sin søn, født marts 2003:
“Well you see that's why we called him David, because we had to find a name that didn't rhyme with Harry, I hadn't used in the books, had absolutely no mythological or magical connection, didn't mean ‘he who must not be named' in Hebrew, you know.”
